We firmly believe that anyone can cross stitch with patience and perseverance, but sometimes it helps to understand how time-consuming or challenging a pattern will be to create. Here's how we rate the difficulty of our patterns:
Beginner, 1/5 - Appropriate for a true beginner, simple stitches and fewer colors.
Advanced Beginner, 2/5 - Achievable for beginners who are willing to learn a new skill, may include more types of stitches or fun details that you haven't tried before.
Intermediate, 3/5 - More details, types of stitches and larger patterns.
Advanced, 4/5 - Still achievable, but patterns will include more details, colors and types of stitches maybe unfamiliar to beginners. These will take longer to create due to their complexities and added textures.
Challenging, 5/5 - Complex projects that are craft heavy in detail, texture and color. Still achievable, but prepare to spend a long time making these.

This kit has made a cross stitcher out of me! I’m new to cross stitch (embroidery artist here), and this kit made everything so simple! The materials are lovely and beautiful and the instructions were simple and clear (loved the illustrations!) I completed my kit in less than a week and have since ordered two more and a project bag for my new craft obsession! My only (minor) issue was the embroidery floss (which is notoriously a challenge—I prefer Perle cotton) and the hoop didn’t appear to tighten much (though it’s not really necessary with the strength of the Aida cloth). Overall I would highly recommend a Junebug and Darlin kit. If you’re unsure, take the plunge! So worth it for hours and hours of enjoyment!
...and I became a fervent cross-stitcher. I made a "Smash the Patriarchy" for four of my female colleagues as recognition of the endless rivers of patriarchal bullshit we must contend with in academia. I made one for myself and hung it over my desk. Seeing it each day keeps the fire burning inside. And it's so pretty, right?
