What's in a Kit?

inside a cross stitch kit

Our cross stitch kits are all handmade by me in Portland, OR. I source high quality materials to make your stitching experience a positive one. Each kit comes with the following:
  • Embroidery hoop
  • Printed counted cross stitch pattern
  • Aida cloth
  • Tapestry needles
  • DMC floss
  • Organic batting for framing
  • Felt for backing
  • Hand drawn directions specific to my kits

Counted cross stitch is a great introduction to any cross stitch project. The kits do not have the pattern printed on the Aida cloth. The process of counted cross stitch means you will be using your printed pattern to count where the stitches will be placed on your Aida cloth. The instructions will walk you through all of the steps of how to use the materials in your kit and how to read your counted cross stitch pattern.

Choosing the right kit based on Skill Level:

All kits are labeled beginner to advanced. Skill Levels are determined by the difficulty of the design. All kits offered are great for novice and experienced makers alike.

If you're looking for the best 'first kit' to start your stitching journey, search for Skill Level: BeginnerBeginner kits are great start for crafters who have never cross stitched before. Beginner kits tend to be smaller, have fewer colors and require the most basic of full cross stitches.

Looking for something to build on your skills? Try a kit with Skill Level: Intermediate or Advanced. More intermediate and advanced kits will teach you to use a larger collection of colors as well as have the possibility of learning more advanced stitches such as backstitching, 3/4 stitches and french knots. More advanced kits tend to take longer to stitch as you practice a variety of stitching skills at once. Intermediate kits are also a great way to jump into this new craft for the adventurous stitcher!
